2008 DHS Grants
The Department of Homeland Security announced February 1, 2008 the release of application guidance for 14 federal grant programs whose collective purpose is to strengthen prevention, protection, response and recovery capabilities at all levels of government.
The FEMA website provides all related grant guidance, forms and offers a brief description of each program, eligibility and more. That information can be found at FEMA or review the 2008 DHS Grants - Quick Facts and Links (Word doc.)
The Virginia Department of Emergency Management serves as the State Administrative Agency for these grants. VDEM, along with the Office of Commonwealth Preparedness, will host grant stakeholder meetings with each of the seven Regional Preparedness Advisory Groups.
Award announcements are expected by late summer/early fall. For information on how the grants were developed, please see the 2008 DHS Grant Process Meeting Summary page.
All initiatives submitted for funding in the 2008 grant cycle were supported by the Virginia State Preparedness Report. That document was developed in December 2007 and submitted to Congress on March 31, 2008. You can see the process used to develop the State Preparedness Report.
